JAKARTA - The Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya revealed the motive of the suspect with the initials RD alias D (25), who committed theft with violence resulting in the victim's death in Tangerang, which was triggered by pressure from the family to meet the cost of the wedding.

"The original intention was that this perpetrator wanted to commit suicide because he was confused about finding money to meet the cost of the wedding. While walking, he saw the victim sleeping," said Arief as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 14.
The victim was not initially targeted by the perpetrator. The action was purely spontaneous when the suspect was walking and saw the victim sleeping, while his motorcycle was parked not far from the scene.
Seeing an opportunity, the suspect gave up his intention to commit suicide and instead wanted to take control of the victim's motorcycle. The suspect then approached and tried to reach into the victim's pants pocket to find the ignition key.
"During the process of looking for the motorcycle key, the victim woke up and resisted. Then, after that, the perpetrator stabbed the victim," said Arief.
The suspect stabbed the victim's neck once, resulting in the victim's death. The suspect is currently being held at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters to undergo further legal proceedings.
For his actions, the suspect was charged with layered articles in the new Criminal Code (KUHP).
"He is a suspect. For his suspicion, Article 458 and or Article 479 Paragraph (3) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code," said Arief.
