JAKARTA - TikTok is reportedly planning to lay off most of its operating and marketing personnel globally.
Global layoffs are expected to befall teams that handle user support and communications, as well as content and marketing. TikTok's current global user operations team will be disbanded as part of the move, and the remaining employees will be distributed to trust and safety teams, marketing, content, and company products.
This layoff news was first reported by The Information. TikTok did not respond to a request for confirmation as reported by CNN.

Several TikTok employees were notified of plans for layoffs on Tuesday night following a report by The Information when Adam Presser, head of company operations, and Zenia Mucha's Chief Brand and Communications Officer sent a message to the affected team, the source said.
Layoffs have been going on for some time, perhaps nearly a year, but TikTok's recent turnover of marketing teams, trust, safety and operations has led to delays, one employee told CNN.
The layoffs are not related to the legal and political turmoil the company faces in the United States which could result in a potential ban on the TikTok application nationwide, the person added.
It's unclear how many TikTok employees may have lost their jobs. The information reports that the large percentage of about 1,000 employees working in the affected teams could be dismissed.
In 2023, TikTok revealed that they only have 7,000 employees in the United States.
