JAKARTA - The Indonesian National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) assesses that international cooperation in the field of terrorism is a prerequisite for the realization of peace, security, stability, and global welfare.
Deputy for International Cooperation of BNPT RI Andhika Chrisnayudhanto said, Indonesia believes in the spirit of multilateralism through international cooperation in overcoming the threat of terrorism.
"Multilateralism has been advocated by the United Nations (UN) with the ratification of a Global Terrorism Counterterrorism Strategy focused on preventing terrorism, strengthening international cooperation, and increasing national capacity to overcome the threat of terrorism," Andhika said, as quoted from an official statement via Antara, Friday, May 24.
That way, he considered that a joint agenda was needed by continuing to increase international cooperation to deal with the threat of terrorism.
One of the shared agendas in increasing international cooperation in tackling the threat of terrorism, namely the 2024 Global Security Forum (GSF) conference in Doha, Qatar, which will be held from 20-22 May 2024 with the theme Strategic Competition: The Complexity of Interdependence.
One of the top officials present at the event was the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani who opened the 2024 GSF event.
The number two official in Qatar, in his remarks, stressed that to face global security threats that are interconnected with each other, all parties are required to increase international cooperation and be active within a multilateral scope, one of which is through the 2024 GSF, as a platform for sharing information, good practices, and finding common solutions.
The conference also presented top government officials, diplomats, intelligence communities, industry players, academics, and journalists.
