Japanese Embassy Gives An Award To MRT Jakarta

JAKARTA - PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) received an award from the Japanese Embassy for Indonesia for its success in completing the construction of phase 1 of the Lebak Bulus-HI Roundabout Corridor. This award was given directly by the Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia Kanasugi Kenji.

"I would like to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation for the support from the Japanese government for the presence of an integrated highway in Jakarta", said PT MRT Jakarta President Director William Sabandar, in his official statement, Thursday, March 11.

The Japanese Embassy awarded the "Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Awards" from the "Japan Society of Civil Engineers" to MRT Jakarta.

"Japan Society of Civil Engineers" also appreciates the presence of MRT Jakarta as the first integrated transportation in Indonesia that is able to improve the quality of life of the community, encourage lifestyle changes while creating an integrated public transportation system, and developing transit-oriented areas.

William said that currently, DKI Jakarta Regional-owned Enterprises (BUMD) is working on phase 2 development which is expected to further change the culture of public transportation in Jakarta.

During his visit, Kanasugi Kenji had the experience of using the Jakarta MRT with trips starting from the HI Roundabout Station to Senayan Station.

Kanasugi expressed his praise for the comfort and cleanliness of the MRT Jakarta stations and trains. He also hopes that phase 2 development can provide many benefits for the people of Jakarta.

"I hope that the extension of the MRT line in the future will increase the convenience of transportation", said Kanasugi Kenji.
