Election Lawsuit Rejected, PPP: We Disappointed That The Constitutional Court Did Not Conduct Comprehensive Examination

Acting Chairman of the United Development Party (PPP) Muhamad Mardiono expressed his disappointment with the panel of judges of the Constitutional Court (MK) who did not accept the request for a dispute over the 2024 Legislative Election of the DPR RI in a number of regions. In fact, Mardiono hopes that the Constitutional Court will play a role in safeguarding the sovereignty of the people's votes in elections, especially those entrusted to PPP. "Of course I am disappointed that the Constitutional Court did not carry out a comprehensive examination, so that it could provide a sense of justice to the people who have mandated their constitutional rights as sovereignty to the United Development Party," said Mardiono at the PPP DPP office, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, May 22. Mardiono emphasized that he would still struggle so that PPP could still take a role in parliament even though its lawsuits were not accepted by the Constitutional Court. The struggle, he continued, was carried out through other legal and political constitutional channels to fight for all the aspirations of the people that had been given to PPP. "We also do this effort because we don't want the community or the people to later channel their aspirations on the streets or outside the constitution," said Mardiono. To all PPP cadres, Mardiono asked to remain steadfast and help guard the struggle, which according to him has not been completed by securing the people's voice in order to achieve representation in parliament. "We are all cadres who are strong cadres who are trustworthy in carrying out the struggle of the ulama and national leaders who have previously been entrusted to all of us as the next generation," he explained. It is known that the Constitutional Court (MK) decided that dozens of PPP lawsuits in the case of dispute over the results of the 2024 Pilleg general election (PHPU) could not be accepted. PPP, in its lawsuit, argued that there was a transfer of votes from his party to other parties in a number of regions. In the calculation of the votes collected internally by his party, PPP claimed to have received 6,343,868 votes with a percentage of 4.17 percent and 12 seats in the DPR RI. Meanwhile, the results of the national recapitulation by the KPU stated that the PPP votes in the DPR RI legislative election were only 5,858,777 votes.

In the dismissal putsan, the Constitutional Court assessed that PPP did not explain clearly and in detail how the transfer of votes was carried out, who was the party or person who turned the vote, and when the transfer of votes was carried out.
