Vice President Ma'ruf: Regional Autonomy Can Be A Power Of Development Of Sharia Economy

BANTEN - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin said regional autonomy can be useful for strengthening education, building adequate infrastructure and encouraging innovation and cooperation in developing the leading sector of sharia economy and finance. "If managed wisely and optimally, regional autonomy will be a broad strength and opportunity to realize inclusive, equitable, and sustainable development," said Ma'ruf when giving a speech at the 2024 Adinata Syariah Award event at the Sharia Tower, Tangerang Regency, Banten, Antara, Monday, May 20. Ma'ruf said that the community will increasingly feel the real benefits of Islamic economics and finance at the regional level, through the Regional Committee for Sharia Economics and Finance (KDEKS) and effective central and regional synergies. On that occasion, the Vice President also gave several directions, especially for local governments regarding the development of Islamic economics and finance. First, optimize regional autonomy as an opportunity to design and implement sharia economic and financial policies, according to local conditions. "Make sure the Islamic economy and finance are one of the themes of planning for long-term and medium-term regional development," said the Vice President. For this reason, he said, it is necessary to adopt innovative and responsive sharia economic and financial models for the needs of the local community. Next, second, strengthen the support and role of regional leaders, starting at the provincial level to the village level. "Create regulations and institutions that are conducive, including the form of local sharia financial institutions and developing supporting infrastructure," said the Vice President. Therefore, he requested that access to sharia financing for MSMEs and community-based businesses be increased. "Investigate the development of the halal industry, attract investment by promoting regional potential, and ensuring adequate logistics and distribution infrastructure," he said. Then third, build a strong infrastructure ecosystem for the growth and sustainability of the Islamic economy and finance.

"Increase literacy and education to build superior human resources in the field of Islamic economics and finance. Build collaborations to increase research and development in the leading sectors of the sharia economy," said the Vice President.
