JAKARTA - Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) and the Center for Law and Policy Studies (PSHK) reminded that integrity, competence, and independence are criteria that must be considered by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) when determining the Selection Committee (Pansel) for the Leadership and Supervisory Board of the KPK.
This has been conveyed in an audience conducted with Deputy V of the Presidential Staff Office. ICW researcher Kurnia Ramadhana who took part in the activity said that there were three things that Jokowi needed to pay attention to, including the criteria for the Pansel.
"We convey three things. First, it is important for KSP to ensure that the President considers the criteria for integrity, competence, and independence before forming the Selection Committee for the Commissioner and Supervisory Board of the KPK for the period 2024-2029," Kurnia said in a written statement to reporters, Monday, May 20.
ICW and PSHK are also said to provide recommendations for figures that Jokowi can consider as a pansel. "At least more than 20 names that we encourage with various backgrounds, ranging from academics, practitioners, to observers of anti-corruption issues," said Kurnia.
"Third, we also remind the Government not to buy up to announce the names of the Paniti Selection members," continued the anti-corruption activist.
Kurnia said that the formation of the Pansel needed to be done immediately because the handover of the position of commissioner of the KPK had to be carried out in December. Do not let the process run in a hurry.
"We also remind the ranks of Deputy V KSP that the momentum of forming this selection committee is crucial for the President because it is the last chance to save the KPK," he said.
