Accused Of Cheating With Someone's Wife, 41-Year-Old Man Stabbed In Front Of Warung Sate Tanah Abang

JAKARTA - A man with the initials A (41) became a victim of stabbing in the Hilir Dam area, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, Saturday afternoon, March 29. The perpetrator with the initials P (36) was desperate to stab the victim because he was suspected of being blind, thinking the victim was having an affair with his wife.

Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Pol Susatyo Purnomo Condro, confirmed this incident and revealed that the perpetrator acted on an emotional push.

"From the results of the initial examination, the motive for the perpetrator was hurt and jealous because he suspected that the victim had a relationship with his wife. The perpetrator then stabbed the victim using a knife," said Susatyo in his statement, Saturday night.

Tanah Abang Metro Police Chief, Kompol Haris Akhmat Basuki, added that this incident occurred at around 17.00 WIB in front of the Sate Padang Takana Juo shop, Bendungan Hilir. The victim who suffered a stab wound was immediately rushed to the Mintohardjo Naval Hospital for treatment.

"The victim suffered injuries as a result of a sharp weapon on the left side of the neck and a wound on the right hand. We received reports of a commotion at around 17.30 WIB. The opsnal team immediately moved to the location and found the victim was already injured. We immediately took the victim to the hospital and secured the perpetrator around Gang 5 Benhil," explained Haris.

The police also secured evidence in the form of a knife used by the perpetrator. Currently, P is still undergoing further examination at the Tanah Abang Metro Police.

For his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 351 Paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code concerning Persecution that caused severe injury, with a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison.

"We have secured the perpetrator and are being investigated. We have also collected information from witnesses and checked CCTV footage around the location," added Haris.

The police appealed to the public not to take justice into their own hands and leave all forms of legal issues to the authorities.

The case is still under investigation, while the victim is still under medical treatment.
