Fiji's President Emphasizes The Importance Of A Concrete Agreement At The 10th World Water Forum

"We must discuss strategies that we can apply to ensure future generations' lives related to their water safety and security aspects," said Katonivere. Sunday 19 May.

Katonivere emphasizes that water safety is one of Fiji's main focuses today in the midst of efforts to balance the country's development with the handling of climate change issues. As an archipelagic country located in the Pacific Ocean, Fiji is one of the countries most affected by climate change.

He stated that the 10th World Water Forum must ensure that all the things listed in the concrete action compound are realized by all participating countries. This forum can also show the world which countries support the steps to deal with water problems at the global level.

"We have held so many meetings and completed a lot of research, and I think it is very important for us to find ways to deal with water problems," said Katonivere.

Fiji's President, Wiliame Katonivere, is one of the heads of friendly countries that attended the 10th World Water Forum event in Bali which took place from 18-25 May 2024. This Forum discusses various issues related to water, clean water and sanitation conservation, food and energy security, and mitigation of natural disasters.

As the host, Indonesia proposes the establishment of a Center of Excellence (COE) for water and climate security. COE is expected to be a space for finding solutions to water problems and realizing water safety in the midst of climate change. In addition, as many as 244 water-related discussion sessions in WWF are expected to provide concrete results regarding water management globally.
