JAKARTA - Satellite-based internet service provider Starlink is confirmed to operate in Indonesia and specifically its owner, US businessman Elon Musk, inaugurated the service in Bali on Sunday, May 19, noon.

The presence of Starlink by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan is considered to be able to assist the government in equitable internet in Indonesia and can reduce the number of internet blind spots in remote areas.

"Our remote areas will be covered with good internet," said Luhut, quoted from Antara.

To be able to enjoy internet services from Starlink, people who become customers will be required to have VSAT devices or signal receiving stations.

Based on information from Starlink.com, there are two VSATs offered.

First, the VSAT used by customers who will stay in a location such as customers in the residential area, this VSAT is offered for IDR 7,800,000.

Then for the second, is the VSAT used by customers with high mobilization such as being used for ships that are actively operating in the waters offered for IDR 43,721,590.

Discussing internet service packages, it is also known that there are several internet service packages that are presented in Indonesia, ranging from personal packages to business.

Lastly there is a ship package, offered starting from IDR 4,345,000 per month for internet data access of 50 GB, this package includes global services, use for traveling and sailing, and obtaining network priorities.

There is also a package worth Rp. 17,160,000 per month for internet packages of 1 TB and packages for Rp. 86,130,000 per month.
