According to information compiled from local BPBD officers, the landslide disaster in the boarding school environment occurred at around 14:20 WIB which was triggered by heavy rains that had fallen since Saturday afternoon.

At the time of the incident, the victim was in one of the buildings belonging to the boarding school which was right behind him with a cliff with a height of 15 meters. It is suspected that it was raining almost every day so that the cliff became fragile and eventually collapsed.

At the same time, the victim was in a house-shaped building and did not have time to save himself when the ground piled up the building. The boarding school and students who knew about the disaster tried to provide assistance and dig the ground that had buried Jaenudin.

However, unfortunately the victim died on the spot even though he was rushed to the nearest clinic. It is suspected that the victim died of running out of breath when his body was buried in soil material from the cliff.

Receiving information about a landslide that killed a resident, elements of the Kadudampit District Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimcam) together with officers from the Sukabumi Regency BPBD visited the scene to collect data.

"The impact of this disaster in addition to causing one victim to die, also caused the building to be heavily damaged. Until now, officers are still at the scene to monitor the anticipation of further landslides and urge residents and students not to temporarily approach the location," he added.

Medi appealed to residents of Sukabumi Regency to always be vigilant because the potential for hydrometeorological disasters is quite high, triggered by heavy rains and is predicted to occur for the next few days according to weather forecasts from BMKG.
