NTB - The Mataram City Government (Pemkot) needs IDR 45 billion for the installation or construction of embankments or "cryptops" along Ampenan Beach tourist attractions.

"We have proposed the funds to the Indonesian Ministry of Public Works and Housing through the NTB River Basin Center (BWS)," said Mataram Mayor H Mohan Roliskana in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara Province, Friday, May 17, as reported by Antara.

He said that the 9.1 kilometer coastline of Mataram City was a priority for crypts.

It's just that, he continued, for the first stage, the installation of this crypt was specifically proposed at the Ampenan Beach tourist attraction or former Ampenan Port from Jangkuk estuary to Pertamina's limits.

The consideration is because the area is the potential point for the highest tidal waves, besides that there are vital installations, namely Pertamina, and residential areas.

In addition, the installation of the script can be a unit of the Ampenan Beach revitalization program which was carried out this year with the assistance of the central government amounting to Rp4.5 billion.

In the revitalization planning design, pedestrian arrangements including unaccommodated crypts, while this crypt is the main infrastructure for embankment security. Even today, there are several pedestrian points that have broken due to tidal waves.

"So we don't want it, after street vendors and public facilities at Ampenan Beach, we will arrange it neatly, it will collapse because the embankment safety construction is not strong," he said.

Head of the Mataram City Spatial Planning Public Works (PUPR) Lale Widiahning previously said that previously on Ampenan Beach it had been installed with a crypt with a length of about 50 meters to prevent erosion on the coast.

The embankment security installed using a technical crypt in the form of piles of large rocks arranged in layers with a volume of one lump of rock used to reach one cubic.

It is said, if you look at the effectiveness, the installation of the script as a coastal safety is much more effective than the oval.

"Moreover, the stones used to make the rap are large rocks so that they do not shift when a tidal wave occurs," he said.

In fact, continued Lale, from the results of the evaluation of the installation of crypts on Ampenan Beach, Mapak Indah and Loang Baloq, the rapap was considered effective and had a significant impact, namely not shifting the coastline despite tidal waves.

"Therefore, in the future, we need to prioritize the points of the coast where there is no crypt, because the coastline is starting to erode," he said.
