West Lampung Police Chief, AKBP Ryky Widya Muharam said that he had dispatched personnel in the field to conduct a series of investigations related to the Bus Ranau Indah accident into a ravine, last Monday at around 03.00 WIB.
The accident took place on the Lintas Liwa national highway, to be precise in Pekon Padang Tambak, Way Tenong District. Ryky wants to determine whether the incident was purely an accident or a violation of both the driver and vehicle.
"I also asked the Head of the Traffic Unit to investigate again, so that we know whether this accident really was a disaster or negligence or violations of both the driver and the vehicle," said AKBP Ryky Widya Muharam when contacted from South Lampung, Antara, Tuesday, May 14.
"Previously we were also concerned about the incident experienced by the Ranau Indah bus, I also ensure that members in the field have worked well in handling both victims and their vehicles," he said.
Head of Traffic at the West Lampung Police, Iptu Samsi Rizal, added that his party would investigate the accident by examining the driver and later summon the owner of the vehicle.
"Yes, of course, later we will investigate the cause of this vehicle having an accident, later we will check the driver, then we will check the completeness and also the correspondence for the vehicle, we will also call the owner of the vehicle," said Iptu Samsi Rizal.
He explained that the temporary suspicion that the Ranau Indah Bus, license plate number BG 7901 LP, which was traveling from Bandarlampung to Liwa, was caused by the driver's view being blocked by thick fog, causing the R6 vehicle to drive straight across the road towards the right ravine of the road.
"If later the accident is purely a natural factor, we will coordinate with colleagues from the LLAJ office to add traffic signs," he said.
For information, the police personnel from the Sumberjaya Police, West Lampung Police, evacuated a Ranau Indah bus that had a single accident and entered a 50 meter deep ravine on the Lintas Liwa National Cross Road, precisely in Pekon Padang Tambak, Way Tenong District, West Lampung Regency.
The Head of the Sumberjaya Police, AKP Rekson Syahrul, when contacted from South Lampung, Monday, said the incident occurred at around 03.00 WIB. The bus had 18 passengers.
"Sumber Jaya Police Traffic Personnel, Way Tenong Pospol or Pajar Bulan immediately went to the TKP to secure the crime scene, regulate traffic, evacuate victims to the puskesmas and record victims," he said.
He said that until Monday afternoon his party, assisted by the surrounding community, was still evacuating the Ranau Indah bus that had entered the ravine.
According to him, it is suspected that the bus with police number BG 7901 LP which drove from Bandarlampung to Liwa, West Lampung Regency, entered a ravine because the driver's view was blocked by thick fog.
"But grateful that only one suffered minor injuries and the other was in good condition from the total number of passengers as many as 18 people," he said.
According to him, the victim was immediately rushed to the local health center for treatment. Meanwhile, 17 other passengers were allowed to return to their respective homes after collecting data.
