SYL Hidden In Pasar Minggu Luxury Mercedes Benz Car

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 315 CD which allegedly belonged to former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo was hidden in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta.

The car was finally confiscated after the Tracing Asset Team from the Directorate of Asset Tracking of Evidence and Execution Management of the KPK sniffed out its whereabouts.

"This car is hidden in the Jatipadang Village area, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri in a written statement, Tuesday, May 14.

Ali detailed that the car was confiscated by the investigative team on Monday, May 13. People close to Syahrul who hid assets allegedly came from money from corruption.

"The car allegedly belonged to the suspect SYL who was deliberately hidden and transferred and was later found under control from the person closest to the suspect," he said.

Furthermore, this car will be used as evidence of alleged money laundering (TPPU). Syahrul will later be asked for confirmation along with other witnesses.

"The next car will be used as evidence in the TPPU case file and the next one will also be confirmed in witnesses including the suspect," said Ali.

Previously reported, the KPK named Syahrul Yasin Limpo, who is a former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) as a suspect in the alleged crime of money laundering (TPPU). This step was taken after he was caught in an alleged extortion and acceptance of gratuities.

The case of extortion and acceptance of gratuities that ensnared Syahrul is currently being tried at the Jakarta Corruption Court. He was charged with extortion of up to Rp44.5 billion during the 2020-2023 period.

This action was carried out together with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture Kasdi Subagyono and the Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery of the Directorate General of Infrastructure and Facilities of the Ministry of Agriculture Muhammad Hatta.

This money was used for the benefit of Syahrul's wife and family, invited gifts, the NasDem Party, religious events, aircraft charters to Umrah and sacrifices. In addition, he was also charged with receiving gratuities of Rp40.6 billion from January 2020 to October 2023.
