TARAKAN - Head of the Public Service Agency of the Airport Organizing Unit (UPBU) Office (UPBU) Juwata Tarakan, North Kalimantan (Kaltara) Bambang Hartato revealed that his party succeeded in thwarting four passengers carrying more than 4 kilograms (kg) of methamphetamine or 4,047 grams of methamphetamine.

"On Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 09.00 WITA, Avsec found four passengers on the Super Air Jet IU 534 flight route Tarakan-Makassar, carrying suspicious items known to be methamphetamine," said Bambang in Tarakan as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, May 11.

After being investigated by the Aviation Security (Avzec) of Juwata Tarakan Airport, it was found that the four passengers were carrying suspicious items circularly in the thigh area.

"We conducted further investigations and found 16 packages of suspected illegal shabu-shabu with a total estimate of 4,047 grams," he said.

Then Bambang Hartato handed over the findings to the North Kalimantan Provincial Narcotics National Agency (BNNP) for further investigation and legal proceedings.

Avsec officers will further increase security checks and surveillance at airports, especially at Security Check Points. If passengers are identified with suspicious movements, a stricter inspection will be carried out," said Bambang.
