PANGKALPINANG - The joint team managed to evacuate two ships loaded with containers and coal that ran aground at the mouth of the entrance to Pangkalbalam Port, Bangka Belitung Islands Province (Babel) on Thursday (9/5) night.

"Alhamdulillah, all the ships ran aground and were successfully evacuated last night," said a member of the joint team for the evacuation of Ferdi in Pangkalpinang, Friday, May 10.

Acting (Pj) Governor of the Bangka Belitung Islands, Syafrizal ZA, said that this cargo ship had run aground since Sunday (5/5) so that it closed the flow in and out of ships at Pangkalbalam Port.

"The joint team consisting of Lanal, Korem 045, Bakamla, KSOP, Pelindo Pangkalbalam, has worked hard to evacuate this shipwreck," he said.

In evacuating this shipwreck, he continued, the joint team emptied some of the cargo of the container ship and transferred it to a barge to relieve the container ship that ran aground at the entrance to Pangkalbalam Port.

"Alhamdulillah, the transfer of the ship's cargo ran aground and was pulled into Pangkalbalam Port," he said.

He hopes that KSOP and Pelindo Pangkalbalam will provide sufficient ship guides so that there will be no more ships running aground in the shipping lane of this ship at this port.

"We will continue to coordinate with KSOP and Pelindo to provide sufficient guidance, so that if it is not possible, postpone the ship to the highest tide," he said.

He stated that this week the highest tides ranged from 2.1 to 2.2 meters, only lasted two hours from 19.00 to 21.00 WIB, so a guide ship was needed to guide the incoming and outgoing ships at this port.
