JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission or the KPK has again named the inactive North Maluku Governor, Abdul Ghani Kasuba, as a suspect. This time, regarding the alleged crime of money laundering (TPPU). "AGK (Abdul Ghani Kasuba) has been named a TPPU suspect," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri in his statement, Wednesday, May 8. From several pieces of evidence obtained, Abdul Ghani Kasuba is suspected of laundering up to Rp100 billion. "The initial proof of the alleged money laundering offense is that there is a purchase and disguising the origin of ownership of assets of economic value on behalf of other people with an initial value estimated at around Rp. 100 billion," he said. To strengthen allegations related to money laundering offenses, investigators will examine witnesses and look for evidence. The parties are expected to cooperate. As a reminder, Abdul Gani Kasuba is a suspect in the alleged bribery of goods and services procurement projects as well as granting permits within the North Maluku Provincial Government. He has been detained along with five other suspects since December 20 after being caught in a hand arrest operation (OTT).

The five suspects are the Head of the North Maluku Provincial Government Housing and Settlement Office, Adnan Hasanudin; Head of PUPR PUPR Maluku Provincial Government Daud Ismail; Head of BPPBJ North Maluku Provincial Government Ridwan Arsan; Ramadhan Ibrahim who is Abdul Gani's aide and the private sector, namely Stevi Thomas and Kristian Wuisan.
