Ramadan Is Coming, 2,000 Alim Ulemas And Imams Of Mosque In Cianjur Will Be Vaccinated

JAKARTA - Thousands of alim ulemas and imams of the mosques in Cianjur, West Java will receive the COVID-19 vaccination in the near future and for the initial phase of vaccination, it will be given to the board of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) starting from the district to sub-district level.

"The total number of alim ulemas and imams of the mosque who will get vaccinated is 2,000 people, starting with the MUI board from the district to sub-district level. Furthermore, the imams of the mosque will lead the tarawih prayer before the fasting month," said Cianjur Regent Herman Suherman when contacted in Cianjur, as reported by Antara, Monday, March 8.

He explained that to ensure the health of imams of the mosque in Cianjur, prior to the arrival of the month of Ramadan, vaccination will be carried out as soon as possible after the ulema who are administrators of the district and sub-district MUI has been finished.

His party is targeting to vaccinate thousands of imams of the mosque in Cianjur, starting next week, where most of them have registered as recipients of vaccines that have been guaranteed from the Drug and Food Supervisory Agency (BPOM) and halal labels from MUI.

"This vaccine is done to prevent the religious scholars and imams of mosques who lead tarawih prayers during fasting from exposure to the coronavirus, so they are prioritized to get phase II vaccination for public employees," he said.

He explained that vaccination of ulema is carried out as an effort to convince the public that the vaccination given is halal so that those who have received the vaccination can socialize with residents not to believe in hoaxes related to vaccination.

"In the future, the scholars who have received the vaccine will be able to convince residents regarding the halal label and guarantees from the Drug and Food Supervisory Agency (BPOM), so that no more residents will be consumed by hoaxes related to COVID-19 vaccination," he said.
