Nurul Ghufron Claims To Help Mutation Of Friends' Son-in-law At The Ministry Of Agriculture Because Of Humanity: If It's A Problem, I'll Accept It

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Nurul Ghufron claimed that he had no other intention when helping the transfer of employees at the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) turned out to be his friend's son-in-law. He said what he did was solely prioritizing humanitarian issues.

"Above our knowledge is humanity, above our power and position is humanity. If we were at issue for helping humanity, we would accept it," Ghufron told reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, May 2.

Ghufron said he could follow up on the mutation problem to the Ministry of Agriculture because there was a report submitted by his friend who was the employee's father-in-law. "That was early March (2022, ed)," he said.

"The point of the report is that they volunteered to ask for mutations from pregnancy until they gave birth to one year and seven months so it was about two years but was not granted," he continued.

Ghufron said the employee was not granted to ask for a transfer due to limited human resources (HR) at the Ministry of Agriculture. "So he then submitted his resignation or resign. Resigning then it was granted, meaning that in the process his resignation would be accepted," he explained.

The employee's mother-in-law then called Ghufron. "Indeed, my friend, mother-in-law (employee, red) then called me, how come it's inconsistent, that the ASN wants mutations are not allowed but backward, the consequences of reducing human resources are granted," he said, repeating the conversation that occurred.

Ghufron then admitted to discussing with KPK Deputy Chairman Alexander Marwata about this matter. He said his colleague had taken care of similar problems.

From this conversation, it was claimed that Ghufron helped find the number of the former Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture Kasdi who at that time was still serving as Inspector General of the Ministry of Agriculture. The figure is currently entangled in a case of extortion with former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

"After getting the number, I will convey it, and my submission is not then asking whether the transfer be granted or not but conveying the complaint is inconsistent," he said.

"He then responded, 'good sir, we check first'... Only about 2-3 weeks later did he say that he met the requirements and the mutation could be processed," continued Ghufron.

Furthermore, Ghufron ensured that he did not receive any compensation. "No matter what money or gift I can't get. And I didn't ask for anything."
