JAKARTA - The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) raised the hazard radius to seven kilometers (km) after the Ruang Ruang Gunung erupted on Tuesday, April 30 in the morning. "When there was an eruption at 01.30 last night we raised the status of Mount Ruang from Level III Alert to Level IV Alert. In addition, it raised the hazard radius which was six kilometers to seven kilometers," said Head of the Center for Monitoring of Volcano and Mitigation of the Land Movements of Sulawesi and Maluku Juliana DJ Rumambi in Manado, Tuesday 30 April, which was confiscated by Antara. Therefore, he hopes that people on Tagulandang Island and its surroundings will evacuate outside the recommended seven-kilometer radius.

He said the eruption that occurred on Tuesday morning was bigger than the eruption on April 17, 2024. "The eruption this time was accompanied by constant earthquake roar, the earthquake was felt continuously, and also the ejection of material from Mount Ruang was greater than the one on April 17, 2024," he said. The magnitude of this eruption, he said, could be seen from its impact, where volcanic ash reached the city of Manado faster compared to previous eruptions.

"Manado is completely covered in dark (dust), yes, and the dust is down to Manado faster than the eruption on April 17," said Juliana. He added that this eruption launched material including hot clouds down the slopes of the mountain.
