Gus Yahya Calls Prabowo-Gibran A NU Family

JAKARTA - The Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board held a halalbihalal event attended by the elected president and vice president of the 2024 General Election, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka at the PBNU office, Central Jakarta.

PBNU General Chair Yahya Cholil Staquf alias Gus Yahya views Prabowo-Gibran as saying part of the NU family. This is evidenced by his presence at the event.

"If there is currently, Pak Prabowo Subianto and Mas Gibran rakabuming Raka as president and vice president are elected, yes, although his presence clearly has a special context, he is present as a member of our family, NU family," Yahya said at the PBNU halal bihalal event, Sunday, April 28.

On that occasion, Yahya emphasized that NU is a community organization that oversees the government's agenda related to the welfare of the community. This, according to Yahya, has been done during President Jokowi's administration and will continue with the Prabowo-Gibran government.

"From the start, we also want to convey that in the future Nahdlatul Ulama will never be together with the upcoming presidential government, Pak Prabowo and Mas Gibran," said Yahya.

Yahya admitted that the role of NU in the government cannot be separated from the political aspect. This can be seen in the Minister of Religion who is Yahya's younger brother and former General Chairperson of GP Ansor. However, the motivation was carried out for the benefit of the people.

"We formed a separate Task Force and its chairman happened to be the Minister of Religion. This is not a matter of nepotism, but just let it be practical and all autonomous bodies are also involved, such as the Ansor Youth Movement and Fatayat NU are also involved. So, in the future, I think it will be easier to build cooperation because of the same mind," he explained.

It is known that Prabowo and Gibran attended a halalbihalal event held by PBNU. A number of officials were also present, including Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, Minister of Investment Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi, Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Suharso Monoarfa, Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa, to National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto.
