BANDA ACEH - Banda Aceh District Attorney (Kejari) together with the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) or Wilayatul Hisbah (WH) Banda Aceh carried out the caning execution of two pairs (four people) convicted of violating Islamic law.
"So we facilitate the execution of the caning by the prosecutor's office, there are two couples who were cursed today," said Head of Islamic Sharia Enforcement of Satpol PP/WH Banda Aceh, Roslina in Banda Aceh, Antara, Thursday, April 26.
The two pairs who were sentenced to caning were AD, JN, HE, and RA. The four convicts were found guilty of violating Article 25 Paragraph 1 of Aceh Qanun Number 6 of 2014 concerning Jinayat Law.
All violators of Islamic law were proven to have committed ikhtilat (intimacy), resulting in 17 lashes after a three-month cut in prison (per month cut by one caning).
Roslina explained that the two couples were arrested in different locations, namely in the Shiah Kuala District and Kuta Alam District.
In Syiah Kuala District, he said, they were arrested in a boarding house, while the Kuta Alam sub-district was arrested in a car in an open space or public parking lot.
"The two couples did an ikhtilat act, so they were already included in making out and were prohibited from being in Jinayat Qanun," he said.
He said that during 2024 cases of violation of Islamic law began to decrease, so that the caning of two pairs (four people) who violated Islamic law was the first time this year.
"So far, the caning has begun to decrease because it has seen developments in Banda Aceh, the level of violations has decreased. In 2024 this is the first time he has been sentenced to caning," said Roslina.
