KPK Reveals Grant Mode In Pilkada: Given Before And After Voting

JAKARTA - KPK Deputy for Prevention and Monitoring Pahala Nainggolan revealed that grants usually occur ahead of the Pilkada. One of the modes is promising when the democratic party in the area is held or a year earlier with the aim of making votes.

"So the grant was given (the promise, ed) a year before the election. That's it, after being given (realization, ed). The previous one was to filter (the voice, ed) after the election to pay the promise," Pahala told reporters quoted on Wednesday, April 24.

Pahala said the anti-corruption commission found such practices in the implementation of the 2015 to 2018 regional elections. They even checked directly in the field.

Thus, this condition made the KPK remind that grants should not be arbitrary for political commodities or get sympathy from certain groups. Pahala said long-term planning should be carried out.

"It's not that simple (giving grant funds, ed). If you want a election, then spend grant funds. No," he said.

"So it can't be (in the year, ed) 2025 suddenly, 'this seems good, I also give a grant'. I can't. A year earlier, the system had to be justified," concluded the Coordinator for the Implementation of the National Strategy for Corruption Prevention (Stranas PK).
