PDIP's Attitude In The Prabowo-Gibran Government Is Determined By Megawati Next Month After The National Working Meeting

The PDI-P (PDIP) said the discussion regarding the position of its party in the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka government was determined next month. A national working meeting (Rakernas) will be held.

PDIP DPP chairman Ahmad Basarah said PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri would decide the party's stance because it has prerogative in accordance with the mandate of the 5th Congress. However, the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia first heard input from his cadres during the National Working Meeting.

"There (the PDIP report, ed) will determine whether his political stance is inside or outside the government," Basarah told reporters at the PDIP DPP office, Jalan Teuku Umar, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Monday, April 22.

Basarah emphasized that each party cadre is certainly ready with the decision Megawati will make. Moreover, the party bearing the bull symbol has been the opposition and they are able to survive.

For example, continued Basarah, such as during the new order or when he was still named the Indonesian Democratic Party (PDI). Despite experiencing various intimidation, this party can survive and become the winner of the 1999 election.

"Then we were in the government and then came out again in the government, were outside the government, my intention was, and re-entered the government for 10 years," he said.

The Deputy Chairperson of the MPR also believes that each cadre will be upright with the decisions made by Megawati in the upcoming National Working Meeting. "So whatever Mother's decision will be, all PDIP cadres will be ready to be inside and outside the government," said Basarah.

"Because we are trained, we are educated as cadres who must be able to live in all the weather and the dynamics of national politics," he concluded.
