Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian Says Iran Told The United States Before And After The Attack On Israel

JAKARTA - Iran notified the United States before and after carrying out an attack on Israel on Saturday's 'True Promise' Operation, Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian upon arrival in New York, United States to attend a UN Security Council meeting.

He explained that the attack was carried out because Israel directly targeted the Iranian Embassy in Damascus, killing Tehran's official military advisers in Syria.

Iran has refrained from considering regional conditions, repeatedly asking the Secretary-General of the United Nations to fulfill its duties to fulfill its obligations to deal with Israel's actions, he said.

Iran's top diplomat continued, Tehran notified the United States when the decision was taken, in response to the Israeli regime within the framework of legal international law and defense.

"We told America by a clear message that the decision taken by Iran's Supreme National Security Council led by the President to punish the Zionist regime is certain and final," he said.

"And after the sentencing (Operation 'True Promise'), at around 02:30 a.m. on Sunday, we sent another message to the United States via a diplomatic channel that said we did not expect an increase in tensions in the region," Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian explained.

He also said Tehran had warned Washington that their bases and interests would not be targeted in the region, unless Uncle Sam's country ignited a war to support the Zionist regime.

Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian said the messages were exchanged primarily through the Swiss Embassy representing US interests in Iran, as well as official diplomatic channels, with the aim of creating a correct understanding of Iran's actions, to prevent escalating tensions and crises in the region.

Iran launched drone and missile attacks on Israel on the evening of April 13, in response to an Israeli attack on the Iranian Embassy Complex in Damascus, Syria that killed seven Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) officers, including two senior generals.

Israel, with the United States, Britain, and France, claims to have successfully fended off and brought down about 99 percent of the approximately 350 Iranian-launched projectiles, as quoted by TASS.

Israel said it was preparing to retaliate against Iran's attacks. Tehran itself assured it did not plan further action after the attack, but was ready to retaliate against any Israeli action in a firm manner.
