BANYUWANGI - PT. River Lake and Crossing Transportation (ASDP) Indonesia Ferry Ketapang Branch, Banyuwangi, East Java predicts the peak of backflow will occur today and Monday (15/4).

General Manager of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry Ketapang-Gilimanuk Syamsudin stated that the backflow trend of Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri on the Ketapang-Gilimanuk track to D+3 today has not shown a significant increase.

"We predict that the backflow will increase in the afternoon until tonight and tomorrow (Monday)," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, April 14.

According to Syamsudin, the return flow of Eid from Ketapang Port (Banyuwangi) to Gilimanuk Port, Jembrana Regency, Bali, is expected to continue flowing or there will be no accumulation of passengers like what happened to the homecoming flow (Gilimanuk-Ketapang).

This is supported by the behavior of the community (private workers) who want to stay longer in their hometowns because of the Eid al-Fitr tradition or celebration which was held a week after Eid al-Fitr.

"The reverse flow will continue to flow because some people (private workers) are waiting after Lebaran ketupat, and some are avoiding the congestion of backflow crossing from Ketapang to Gilimanuk," said Syamsudin.

He said the number of ferry passengers at the Ketapang-Gilimanuk crossing on D+1 and D+2 Lebaran (24 hours) was 62,064 passengers.

"So, on D+1 passengers crossing from Ketapang to Gilimanuk 28,926 people and on D+2 Lebaran it increased by 33,138 people," said Syamsudin.

ASDP has also prepared parking bags to overcome congestion at the port entrance during the backflow of Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri.

Two temporary parking locations, namely from the Situbondo-Ketapang direction, the parking location was selected at the Sri Tanjung Terminal, and in Bulusan (direction to Banyuwangi-Ketapang City).

A parking bag was prepared as an effort to anticipate traffic jams in front of the entrance to the Ketapang-Gilimanuk Ferry Port.
