JAKARTA - British Foreign Minister David Cameron said US President Joe Biden's pressure on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to stop the war in Gaza was right, in order for more humanitarian aid.

In an interview with John Berman of CNN on Wednesday, Foreign Minister Cameron said he agreed with the President a temporary ceasefire was needed.

This came after President Biden gave one of the sharpest warnings against Israel's war handling in Gaza during an interview on Tuesday, describing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's approach to the conflict as a "mistake" and calling for a halt to fighting.

"He properly pressured Netanyahu, as I have said many times that we need to pause in fighting to get help and get the hostages out," Foreign Minister Cameron said.

"It's been a British position for a long time," he added.

Earlier, President Biden assessed PM Netanyahu's approach to the war in Gaza as a mistake in an interview that aired Tuesday, providing further criticism of Israel's way of dealing with the conflict.

"I think what he did was a mistake. I don't agree with his approach," Biden said in a comment to Univision, a Spanish-language TV network in the US.

President Biden also previously called the Israeli bombing of Gaza "indiscriminately" and his military action "exceeded".

"What I call for is for Israel to call for a ceasefire, granting total access to all food and medicines entering the country over the next six, eight weeks," President Biden said.
