JAKARTA - Secretary-General of Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah called Tehran's retaliatory action against the Israeli attack on Iran's diplomatic mission in Damascus a necessity.
"The attack is a turning point since Israel's war broke out on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023," Nasrallah said in a recording of his speech to celebrate InternationalQuds Day as reported by ANTARA from Anadolu, Saturday, April 6.
"We can conclude from the words of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei that Iran's retaliation against this attack is a necessity," he said.
"Israel began taking precautions for fear of Iran's retaliation," Nasrallah said, adding that "time, location, and magnitude of attacks were in the hands of Iranian leaders."
Seven members of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, including two top generals, were killed in an attack on the Iranian Consulate in Damascus on Monday.
Iran accused Israel of carrying out the attack and vowed to retaliate with a deadly attack.
