PT Pokphand Makassar Livestock Feed Factory Burned

A fire accident accompanied by an explosion occurred in the Fedmill area or a livestock feed production plant owned by PT Charoen Pokphand Tbk, Jalan Kawasan Industri Makassar (KIMA) 17, Tamalanrea District, Makassar City, South Sulawesi.

"Information about the incident did not enter through the operator. However, we know information about the incident through social media uploads and reports of online motorcycle taxis passing through," said the Head of Operations of the Makassar City Fire Department (Damkar), Cakrawala, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, April 1.

The team immediately followed up the fire to the location of the fire, but when the fleet was in front of the factory, firefighters were prohibited from entering by the security guard at the Bangkok feed factory, Thailand.

"Arriving at the scene, firefighters seemed prevented from entering the location, arguing that the situation was safe under control," said Cakrawala.

Regarding the suspicion that the fire department team was prohibited from entering the location to help extinguish the fire, Makassar Fire Chief Muh Hasanuddin responded to the obstacles because they seemed suspicious and needed to be investigated.

"Tomorrow, the Fire Department will deploy a fire inspector team to the company," Hasanuddin said.

Confirmed separately, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tamalanrea Police, Iptu Jeriady, confirmed that there was a fire at the location of the animal feed factory. However, officers at the location are still conducting an investigation.

"While we are collecting data at the location, while members in the field first (collect data), because there is no data yet. This is while I will check first," he said when contacted by reporters.

Until this news was published, there had been no official explanation from the management of PT Pokphand for the incident. In addition, the team from the authorities is still in the process of being investigated.
