Gerindra: There Is No Movement To Change The MD3 Law Regarding The Position Of Chairman Of The DPR

JAKARTA - Member of the Gerindra faction of the DPR, Habiburokhman, said that until now there has been no movement to amend the MPR Law, DPR, DPD, DPRD (MD3) regarding the position of chairman of the DPR 2024-2029.

This was conveyed by Habiburokhman in response to the hectic issue of the chairmanship of the DPR which would be taken over by the party with the highest votes in the winning coalition for the 2024 presidential election.

"In my opinion, until now there has been no concrete movement to change the law," said Habiburokhman, Monday, April 1.

That way, Habiburokhman said, the position of chairman of the DPR was still filled by the winner of the 2024 Legislative Election, namely PDIP.

The Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR is also not sure that the MD3 Law will soon be discussed for revision. The reason is, the active period of members of the DPR for the 2019-2024 period is only a few months away.

Habiburokhman emphasized that there are still many revisions of the Law that are included in the National Legislation Program to prioritize.

"From the past, there have been so many laws that are included in the Prolegnas, long lists, especially since there are many that we don't work on, it's only a matter of how many months it makes sense to change MD3," said the Gerindra Deputy.

Previously, the Chairperson of the DPR, Puan Maharani, emphasized that the winning party for the 2024 Legislative Election (Pileg) was entitled to the seat of Chairman of the DPR for the next period. In accordance with the mandate of the Law on the MPR, DPR, DPD, and DPRD (UU MD3).

"The legislative election winner who should later be entitled to become chairman of the DPR, that's what I can convey," said Puan at a press conference at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, March 28.

Regarding the issue of the revision of the MD3 Law which can change the rules regarding the seat of the Speaker of the DPR, Puan said that until now the factions in the DPR are still compact.

In fact, he said that the Deputy Speaker of the DPR from Gerindra who won the 2024 KPU version of the 2024 presidential election, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad also admitted that there was no discussion about it from his coalition party.

"We are compact, Mr. Dasco even said we haven't. We've never heard of Mr. Dasco, right? We've never heard of anything like that," said Puan while asking directly to Dasco who was beside her.

"We appreciate that MD3 must remain a law that must be implemented and appreciated by the process in the DPR. The election process has been running and must be carried out according to the law," said the chairman of the PDIP DPP.
