2 Cases Of New Covid Variants In Karawang Are Already Negative, Ridwan Kamil: We Are Not Sure We Are Still Isolated

JAKARTA - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil confirmed that the new variant of the COVID-19 case known as B117 is a resident of Karawang. There are 2 people who have contracted this new type of COVID-19.

The man who is familiarly called Kang Emil said that currently the two cases of COVID-19 B117 already had negative test results. However, currently they are still undergoing independent isolation.

"Two (cases) per day have been negative from the new variant virus but are still isolated in their respective homes. We (West Java Provincial Government) are still not sure (not infectious). So we do additional isolation," said Kang Emil in the broadcast. West Java Public Relations Youtube, Wednesday, March 3.

Kang Emil said that initially the two Karawang residents had just traveled on a Qatar Airways plane. When he arrived at Soekarno-Hatta Airport and a COVID-19 test was carried out and he was detected positive with variant B117.

Then, they underwent isolation for 10 days in centralized isolation. However, after retesting, the virus has not disappeared.

"Therefore, the team is currently tracking, isolating additional, tracing testing again to close contact. Because this virus variant must be imported, not a local mutation variant. So, that's why two people in Karawang are recorded as traveling internationally," explained Kang Emil.

Furthermore, Kang Emil asked the Karawang Regent, Dandim, and the Head of the Karawang Metro Police to increase contact tracing of the two new variant cases.

"Don't let the mistakes get bigger and we finally can't control it. While it's only small, and maybe there could also be other things to detect immediately. We know when it's too late, the price of the teearment is very expensive," he said.
