Jatidiri Semarang GOR Becomes The Opening Arena For Proliga 2025

JAKARTA The Jatidiri Sports Center (GOR) in Semarang, Central Java, officially became the venue for the opening of the 2025 Proliga competition which began on Friday, January 3, 2025.

The highest level of the Indonesian volleyball league organized by the Indonesian Volleyball Association (PBVSI) will take place in 10 cities of Indonesia until May 11, 2025.

"Animo, the Semarang audience is extraordinary. We are also happy to be back here again," said the General Chairperson of PBVSI, Imam Sudjarwo, in an official statement received by the media.

Semarang had the opportunity to host twice this year. In addition to the opening match, the city was also the venue for the Final Four round on April 24-27, 2024.

A total of 12 teams became constestan in the 2025 Proliga. This number consists of five men's teams and seven women's teams or a two-team shrink compared to the 2024 Proliga.

"There are equal distribution of players in participating clubs, both local players and foreign players. Competition will remain tight," said Imam.

From the men's sector, the contestant teams are Jakarta LavAni Transmart, Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi, Palembang Bank SumselBabel, Jakarta Garuda Jaya, and Surabaya Samator.

The women's sector consists of Jakarta Electric PLN, Jakarta Popsivo Polwan, Jakarta Pertamina Energi, Jakarta Livin Mandiri, Bandung bjb Tandamata, Gresik Petrokimia Pupuk Infonesia, and Yogya Falcons.

Proliga 2025 will be a preparation for the U-21 Indonesian national team, both men and women. The two teams will compete in the U-21 World Championships in August 2025.
