JAKARTA - Entering the beginning of 2025, the elected Regent of Mahakam Ulu, East Kalimantan, Owena Mayang Shari Belawan emphasized that he was ready to support President Prabowo Subianto's Asta Cita program.

Owena said that he had never held any grudge against the Gerindra Party, which did not provide tickets to run in the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada.

In fact, Owena ensured that he would remain a Gerindra Party cadre who was ready to carry out instructions from Prabowo Subianto both as President and General Chair of the Gerindra Party.

"Even though I was elected as Regent of Mahakam Ulu without the support of the Gerindra party, I remain a party cadre who will carry out the orders of Mr. President Prabowo," Owena said in a written statement, Thursday, January 2.

The daughter of the founder of the Gerindra Party in Mahakam Ulu, Bonifasius Belawan Geh, also only hopes that President Prabowo Subianto will continue to support him.

"Because even though it was removed from the Gerindra DPC, my father, Bonifasius Belawan Geh, was the first Gerindra Party voter in East Kalimantan Mahulu," he said.

Owena, who was supported by three parties, namely the Democratic Party, PKB and PAN in the Mahulu Regional Election, then hoped that his party could continue the leadership in Mahakam Ulu well and according to President Prabowo's Nawacita program.

"I just want Pak Prabowo to continue to pay attention to those of us who are still fighting for Mr. Prabowo's Nawacita," he said.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the pair of candidates who won the 2024 Pilkada should be leaders for all people in his area. Prabowo emphasized that elected regional heads must prioritize programs to serve the people.

"The winner must be a leader for all, the losers must work together. The important thing is to serve the people, to work for the people," said Prabowo.
