Babel Police Confiscate 35 Kilograms Of Methamphetamine At Muntok Harbor

PANGKALPINANG - The Joint Team of the Narcotics Directorate of the Bangka Belitung Islands Police (Babel) and the West Bangka Police Narcotics Unit managed to secure 35 kilograms of methamphetamine worth Rp35 billion from the hands of two couriers at Tajung Kalian Muntok Port, West Bangka.

"The two 35 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine couriers who were arrested were Handika alias Dika (26), a resident of West Bangka Tempilang and Sien Alias Sien (27), a resident of the Somor River, Ogan Komering Regency, Ilir, South Sumatra Province," said Bangka Belitung Police Chief Inspector General Tornagogo Sihombing as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 26.

He said the Joint Team of the Narcotics Directorate of the Bangka Belitung Islands Police together with the West Bangka Police Narcotics Unit succeeded in arresting two drug dealers at Tanjung Kalian Port, Mentok, West Bangka Regency on Friday (22/3) at around 06.00 WIB, as a police commitment to eradicate the circulation and abuse of these illicit goods.

"The disclosure of the case began with a report related to the shipment of methamphetamine from Aceh Province to Bangka Island," he said.

According to him, the modus operandi of the perpetrator was to bring and become a courier of goods suspected of being a narcotic type of methamphetamine together and to take suspected narcotics on the border of East Aceh with North Aceh.

"Then drugs were brought to Bangka Island by car. The perpetrator admitted that he was ordered by someone with the initials FR and promised Rp70 million in return," said Tornagogo.

35 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine carried by the perpetrator was wrapped in green Chinese Tea packaging weighing 35,685 grams.

In addition, the team also managed to secure 2 white sacks, 2 cellphones, Rp1.3 million in cash and 1 car used by the two perpetrators.

The price of the secured narcotics evidence is worth Rp35 billion and can save 140 thousand human lives. In addition, the methamphetamine can have a negative impact on the younger generation if the drugs are circulating in the Province of the Bangka Belitung Islands.

"The two perpetrators have now been detained at the Babel Police Headquarters. Both are subject to Article 114 paragraph 2, Article 112 paragraph 2 and Article 132 paragraph 1 of the Republic of Indonesia Law no. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics with a minimum imprisonment of 6 years, life imprisonment or death penalty," he said.
