BEKASI - The Bekasi Regency Government, West Java focuses on improving the homecoming route along Jalan Inspeksi Kalimalang as an effort to increase the safety and comfort of road users during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming season this year.

Head of the Water Resources, Highways, and Construction Development Office of Bekasi Regency Henri Lincoln said the arrangement of the Kalimalang Inspection Road section intersects with the Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD) program he leads.

"This year, a budget of Rp120 billion is allocated for repairs to the Kalimalang Inspection Road, including to repair damaged roads that will be crossed by travelers," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, March 21.

He said Jalan Kalimalang has a length of 33 kilometers spread from the boundaries of Bekasi City to the Karawang Regency limit. Currently, the repair of the road is in the measuring stage to determine which part will be repaired.

This repair work aims to make the mostly travelers using motorbikes feel more comfortable and avoid traffic accidents when crossing the road.

"For the homecoming route that is crossed in Bekasi Regency, only the Kalimalang route is the responsibility of the local government. Jalan Pantura and the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road are not our responsibility, but the responsibility of the central government and Jasamarga," he said.

Henri explained that road repairs were carried out using several methods, including patchwork for lightly damaged roads and casting for badly damaged roads. In addition, the construction of new roads was also carried out to widen roads after the previous land acquisition process.

"Currently there is also a road construction for road widening that was previously carried out by land acquisition," he said.

His party targets that all roads in the Kalimalang Section can be completed D-5 before Eid al-Fitr or before the peak of the homecoming flow.

"The prediction of the peak flow of Lebaran homecoming this year is estimated to be D-3, our target at D-5 can be crossed by travelers," he said.
