Bahlil Complains To Bareskrim About Profiting His Name In Alleged Extortion Of IUP Of IDR 25 Billion

JAKARTA - Investment Minister/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia reported allegations of defamation related to profiteering his name in illegal levies or extortion of mining business licensing (IUP) to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police.

Bahlil's name was contained in Tempo Magazine and on Tempo's Bocor Alus Politik (BAP) podcast. Tempo mentioned, Bahlil carried out extortion in the issuance of mining permits.

"I came to Bareskrim Polri to fulfill my commitment in order to straighten out the information indicated that in my ministry there were those who took my name through the permit for the recovery of the IUP," Bahlil told reporters, Tuesday, March 19.

His reporting is referred to as a step of transparency in revealing the real facts of the issue, especially since his name was very detrimental.

However, the reported party was not Tempo but the parties who called him involved in extortion.

"I didn't complain about the Tempo, no. I complained was the person who took my good name to ask for something," he said.

"So, so that there is no confusing information. We have to straighten this information out," continued Bahlil.

Although he did not specify who was reported in his reporting or complaint, Bahlil said that all parties who stated that they were involved in extortion had been submitted.

Later the reported party will be questioned until the police will determine whether or not there is a criminal act.

"All of them, both internally and internally, because from Tempo's information there are insiders, close people, yes, I ask for information from insiders," said Bahlil.

For information, Bahlil is said to have involved mining business license extortion. He is said to have set a tariff to restore the revoked permit of Rp. 25 billion.
