Golkar Asks For 5 Ministers' Allotments, Gibran: Later Talked About

SOLO - Candidate for vice president number two Gibran Rakabuming Raka said that discussing the cabinet structure in the upcoming Indonesian government will have its own time.

Responding to the request for a quota of five ministers from the Golkar Party, Gibran when met in Solo, Central Java, Monday, March 18, said that it would be discussed again.

"For ministerial and other issues discussed again, discussed again," said Gibran, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 18.

According to him, this will be determined by Prabowo Subianto as a presidential candidate. "Not yet, there will be time itself," he said.

According to him, so far there has been no discussion regarding the composition of the cabinet. When asked about President Jokowi's involvement in the upcoming cabinet preparation, he was reluctant to escape it.

"There has been no discussion there. For that matter, yes, all this time there has been a discussion with me and Pak Prabowo, between the two of us," he said.

Previously, Gibran was also widely rumored to be the General Chair of the Golkar Party. Related to this, according to Gibran, there are still many senior figures who are more worthy of this position.

"No, let the seniors. Only those who have more experience," he said.

Regarding the possibility of his appointment as new chairman, he admitted that he was not aware of the election process.

"Yes, I don't know what the process there is like. What is clear is that there are still many senior figures," he said.

As previously reported, the General Chairperson of the Golkar Party DPP, Airlangga Hartarto, highlighted the important role of his party in winning the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka pair in the 2024 presidential election.

For this reason, Airlangga assessed that his party deserved five ministers in the upcoming Prabowo-Gibran cabinet.

According to Airlangga, based on data from the Golkar Party Election Winning Board, around 75-80 percent of these party cadres and sympathizers chose the Prabowo-Gibran pair.

"This figure is the highest in history. Previously, the president who was supported by Golkar only received around 53 percent support. However, it has now reached 75-80 percent. This shows that the Golkar Party played a very important role in winning Pak Prabowo and Mas Gibran," he said last week.
