Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka immediately coordinated with the Surakarta Police regarding the phenomenon of a sarong war allegedly carried out by teenagers.

"Let me coordinate with the Chief of Police," he said in Solo, Central Java, quoted by ANTARA Monday, March 18.

He said that actually if the activity was limited to a sarong war, it would not be a problem considering that it was a tradition in the month of Ramadan.

"If the concept is joking, it's okay, but don't keep inserting the game, so it's like a brawl if the sarong is filled with sharp objects," he said.

Previously, last week, the Sparta Team of the Samapta Unit of the Surakarta City Police had arrested 25 teenagers for carrying out a sarong war, on Jalan Ir Juanda Pucanpeklit, Jebres District, Surakarta City, Central Java.

Head of the Samapta Unit of the Surakarta Police, Kompol Arfian Riski Dwi Wibowo, said the 25 teenagers were secured by the Sparta Team of the Samapta Polresta Surakarta from the results of regional circle patrols.

"When we came there were some of them who tried to escape. Due to this suspicion, we immediately went to the group of teenagers, and they argued that they were just hanging out. However, after finding evidence in the form of a sarong tied at the end, then they admitted that they had carried out a sarong war," he said.

As a follow-up, they were secured and then taken to the Surakarta Police Headquarters for data collection. In addition, coaching is also carried out, given an appeal, and an emphasis so as not to repeat his actions.
