JAKARTA - A delegation from the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) chaired by Politician from the Gerindra Faction Fadli Zon and Putu Supadma Rudana from the Democratic Faction as members of the delegation attended as International Observers at the Russian Presidential Election (Pilpres) which was held on March 15 to 17, 2024.
The presence of the DPR RI BKSAP delegation was in response to an invitation from the Russian General Election Commission. The Deputy Chairman of the DPR RI for the 2014-2019 period had the opportunity to witness firsthand the Russian presidential election process at several Polling Stations, including Polling Station numbers 4563 and 3532 in the city of Moscow.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the BKSAP DPR RI also received an explanation regarding the selection method which consists of three ways, namely; manually by checking the options on the ballot paper, electronically using the device provided, and online which can be done anywhere without having to come to the Polling Station.
Apart from that, for elderly Russian citizens, election officials will go around to homes with mobile ballot boxes.
The ballot box is also made of transparent but thick plastic material, which is equipped with sensors so that the ballot papers can be counted immediately and citizens' choices can be seen quite clearly.
"This shows maturity in democracy in Russia. That different choices are normal. With the support of high technology, the level of fraud can be reduced and this means that the elections are becoming more democratic. Not like what has been portrayed so far," said Fadli Zon in his statement, Monday 18 March.
As is known, in the Russian presidential election this time there were 4 presidential candidates. Vladimir Putin as the incumbent was renominated by the United Russia Party, Vladislav Davankov from the New People's Party, Leonid Slutsky from the Liberal Party, and Nikolai Kharitonov from the Communist Party.
