There Is A Nephew, Anwar Usman Asked Not To Handle Presidential Election Disputes At The Constitutional Court

Constitutional Justice Anwar Usman was asked not to participate in the trial of the 2024 presidential election dispute case at the Constitutional Court (MK) in order to avoid a conflict of interest between uncles and nephews. In this case, handling the presidential election case involving vice presidential candidate number 2, Gibran Rakabuming Raka. This was conveyed by the Professor of Constitutional Law at Padjadjaran University (Unpad) Bandung, Susi Dwi Harijanti. It is known that Anwar Usman is the brother-in-law of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Gibran's father.

"Pak Anwar Usman cannot examine, become one of the panel of judges, because there is a conflict of interest because there is Gibran's nephew," said Susi in an online discussion, Saturday, March 16.

Susi also mentioned the alleged fraud in the 2024 General Election which was carried out in a structured, systematic and massive manner (TSM). According to him, this allegation must be proven in the presidential election dispute trial at the Constitutional Court.

"Then the evidence can also be proven clearly by those who file a lawsuit against the election results," said Susi.

Previously, on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, the Constitutional Court decided that Anwar Usman would not try an election dispute in the Constitutional Court to avoid the potential for a conflict of interest. This decision was read out by the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, Jimly Asshiddiqie after stating that Anwar was proven to have violated the code of ethics. heavy in case number 90/PUU-XXI/2023.
