Dozens Of RTs In Jakarta Flooded, Flooded By Up To 50 Centimeters Of Water

JAKARTA - Jakarta and its surroundings were hit by moderate to heavy rains since Thursday, March 14 evening until this morning. The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded as many as 15 RTs were flooded this morning. "BPBD recorded that the current inundation occurred in 15 RTs or 0.049 percent of the 30.772 RTs in the DKI Jakarta area," said Head of BPBD DKI Jakarta Isnawa Adji in his statement, Friday, March 15. In South Jakarta, the flood submerged 1 RT in Manggarai Village with water levels reaching 50 centimeters. Then, in East Jakarta there were 14 RTs in 4 sub-districts with details of 4 RTs in Bidara Cina with water levels reaching 80 centimeters, 3 RTs in Kampung Melayu with water levels of 1.1 meters, 5 RTs in Cawang with water levels of 1 meter, and 2 RTs in Cililitan with water levels of 60 centimeters. The entire RTs that were flooded at 09.00 WIB today, apart from being triggered by heavy rains, were also caused by overflowing of Ciliwung River. "BPBD DKI Jakarta deployed personnel to monitor inundation conditions in each region and coordinate the elements of the SDA Service, the Bina Marga Service, Gulkarmat Service to carry out screening of puddles and ensure that water ropes function well together with local lurah and sub-district heads. The puddles are targeted to recede in a fast time," explained Isnawa.

It is noted that a number of floodgates have experienced an increase in status due to heavy rains in Jakarta and its surroundings since yesterday. Katulampa Dam Status became Alert 3 (Alert) on Thursday at 14:39 WIB, Depok Monitoring Post Alert 3 on Thursday at 18.00 WIB. Then, Manggarai Water Gate became Alert 3 on Friday at 01.00 WIB, Karet Water Gate became Alert 3 at 05.00 WIB, and the Sunter Hulu Post became Alert 3 at 08.00 WIB.
