Legal Experts Ask KPK To Be Proactive In Examining Bahlil Regarding Alleged IUP-HGU Tributes

JAKARTA - Trisakti University Criminal Law expert, Abdul Fickar Hadjar asked the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to immediately examine the Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BPKM) Bahlil Lahaldia.

The examination is to investigate allegations of abuse of authority in the revocation and reactivation of the IUP and HGU by Bahlil.

"Immediately summoned and examined to investigate the alleged corruption of related parties (Bahlil)," said Abdul Fickar in Jakarta, Thursday, March 14.

According to him, the KPK does not need to wait for reports from the public to investigate Bahlil. Because, in the alleged case there are indications of state losses.

Moreover, Bahlil is also suspected of asking for a fee of Rp. 25 billion from mining entrepreneurs who want to activate their permits.

"Yes, the KPK, although there are no reports from the public. But the KPK knows the information on the occurrence of corruption, the KPK can carry out investigations and prosecutions in the courts. The point is that the KPK is aware of state losses," he said.

Fickar said that during the examination, the KPK found concrete evidence of a criminal act of corruption committed by Bahlil. So the KPK must determine as a suspect.

"For this reason, the KPK can also summon and examine all parties related to the corruption incident, all parties are prosecuted as witnesses and most responsible for criminal events are designated as suspects or defendants," he explained.

In addition, Commission VII of the DPR must form a Special Committee (Pansus) to investigate the alleged tribute made by Bahlil.

"The DPR must continue to be encouraged to form a special committee and question the Bahlil tribute case," he added.

Previously, the Chairman of the Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) Sugeng Teguh Santoso asked the KPK to intervene to investigate the alleged mining business permit (IUP) and HGU cases.

This is considering that Commission VII of the DPR has never formed a Special Committee (Pansus) to investigate allegations of abuse of authority in revocation and reactivation of the IUP and HGU by the Minister of Investment or the Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia.

Whereas previously Commission VII promised to immediately form a special committee to dismantle the alleged case.

"The KPK must currently be pulbaket, although there has been no official report. Because this is the issue related to allegations of abuse of authority. I even suggest that there is evidence of alleged corruption in the position of reporting it to law enforcers, namely the KPK or the Attorney General's Office and the Police," said Sugeng as quoted in Jakarta, Thursday (14/3).
