Bengkalis Police Thwarts Smuggling Of 2.9 Kilograms Of Crystal Methamphetamine

Bengkalis Police, Riau thwarted the smuggling of 2.6 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 551 grams of cocaine through the coast of Sumatra Island, precisely in the vicinity of Sepahat Village, Bandar Laksamar District.

"One suspect with the initials SY (47) from Dumai City along with evidence of drugs weighing 2.6 kg of crystal methamphetamine and a white pack weighing 551 grams suspected of being cocaine was successfully secured in operation on Thursday (7/3) ago," said Bengkalis Police Chief AKBP Setyo Bimo Anggoro as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, March 14.

The arrest began with information from the public received directly by the Bengkalis Police Narcotics Unit team regarding drugs entering through the coast of Sumatra Island.

"At that time members in the field secured the motorcyclist and conducted a search. During the search, the team found four packs of suspected drugs," he explained.

An interrogation was carried out at the place where the man claimed to be SY. The man explained that the goods he was carrying were planned to be delivered to Dumai.

"He admitted that SY was promised a salary of Rp. 20 million. He has only been paid Rp. 500 thousand and has delivered drugs three times on orders of someone who is currently still a DPO of the Bengkalis Police," said the Police Chief.

From the examination carried out by officers from the four packs of evidence, three packs of methamphetamine were methamphetamine weighing 2.6 kilograms.

Another pack containing 551 grams of white powder after testing this item is suspected to be cocaine.
