Bandung Regional Secretary Ema Sumarna Resigns After Becoming A KPK Suspect, Lawyer: To Focus

JAKARTA - Bandung City Regional Secretary (Sekda) Ema Sumarna has submitted a letter of resignation from her position. This step was taken after she was named a suspect in the corruption case in the procurement in Bandung City by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

"Pak Ema yesterday has submitted his resignation as the Regional Secretary of Bandung City to focus more on facing this legal process," said Ema Sumarna's lawyer, Rizky Rizgantara, to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, March 14.

Rizky confirmed that his client had submitted the letter to the Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin. "Just waiting for an answer from the authorized agency," he said.

Previously reported, the KPK developed allegations of bribery for the Bandung Smart City program related to CCTV procurement. As a result, there are new suspects who have been named.

"Several parties have been named as suspects (the Bandung CCTV development case, ed) both from the Bandung City government executive and from the DPRD legislature," said Ali Fikri in his statement, Wednesday, March 13.

Ali has not detailed the suspects in this case as well as the number. "Later, we will update the names of the suspects in question for the development of the bribery case in the city of Bandung," he said.

"As usual, we will officially announce when the suspect is detained," Ali continued.

Even so, the information gathered by one of the entangled was the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Bandung City, Ema Sumarna. He became a litigant along with four other people, namely Riantono, Achmad Nugraha, Ferry Cahyadi, and Yudi Cahyadi, all of whom were members of the Bandung City DPRD.
