JAKARTA - The Minister of ATR/Head of BPN who is also the General Chair of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) responded to the issue of the Democratic Party asking for a seat from the coordinating minister (Menko) in Prabowo-Gibran's new cabinet if officially elected as president and vice president in 2024. He admitted that he and Prabowo had not yet talked much about the position or quota of the next minister. He emphasized that currently Prabowo and all parties who are in the Advanced Indonesia Coalition are still waiting for the results of the official KPU calculations for the 2024 presidential election. "First, wait first. We wait, we also know that March 20 is an important moment and the final for the KPU is related to the election results. Then morally and ethically we can talk further because after that, the Advanced Indonesia Coalition will reunite," said AHY, Wednesday, March 13. "I myself have met Pak Prabowo Subianto and he said that we are jointly overseeing this vote calculation," he continued. AHY emphasized that he had not discussed the amount of ministerial rations and positions that would be held in the cabinet later. According to him, the elected president will later have the prerogative right to elect his minister. "We don't talk about the position first because we want to put everything forward. We know the president has prerogative rights and we only convey what needs to be fought for together," he added.

AHY admitted that he would fully hand over to Prabowo if later there were ministers who entered from the non-user Prabowo-Gibran party. "We certainly really understand and respect him because he is the one who can determine the current Forward Indonesian Coalition is quite strong, quite strong in parliament, or he has other views," he said. AHY hopes that the next leadership transition will be successful. He also hopes that the new government can be successful by being escorted by a strong coalition and balanced with stability in parliament. "We want the future government to be successful, well guarded by the parties that carry it, but we also want stability in parliament to be maintained because whatever the policy must be guarded in parliament," he concluded.

For information, the General Elections Commission (KPU) has held a recapitulation of the vote count for the 2024 presidential election at the national level in each province. Until now, there have been 16 provinces that have recapitulated the 2024 presidential election at the national level. From the results of the national recapitulation, the Prabowo-Gibran pair is superior to two other candidates, namely Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD.
