Minister Basuki Asks All Balai To Be Prepared For The Transition Season

JAKARTA - The Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has instructed all PUPR Ministry offices in Indonesian territory to be prepared for the transition season.

"I don't think that all of our centers throughout Indonesia should go to Jakarta, except with the permission of the Minister of PUPR. Because we are all ready to face the transition season," said Basuki in Jakarta, Tuesday, March 12.

He also added that in facing the transition season (transition season), all parts of Indonesia were a priority for him and the Ministry of PUPR while continuing to coordinate with the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

"I think all regions in Indonesia are my priority, coordinating with BMKG. BMKG always gives warnings," he said.

For information, BMKG urges the public to be aware of the potential for extreme weather during the transition period (season transition) which is predicted to take place from March to April 2024.

During the transition period, people need to increase their vigilance and early anticipation of potential extreme weather such as heavy rain in a short duration which can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds, tornadoes, and hail phenomena.

Head of BMKG Dwikorita Karnawati said, based on the analysis of atmospheric dynamics carried out by BMKG, it was found that currently the peak of the rainy season had passed in various parts of Indonesia, especially the southern part of Indonesia.

This, he said, indicates that the region will begin to enter the transition season from March to April. One of the characteristics of the transitional season is the pattern of rain that usually occurs in the afternoon until late at night, preceded by warm and hot air in the morning to noon.
