Airlangga Says There Is No Golkar Scenario To Take The Chair Seat Of The Speaker Of The House Of Representatives For The Future Period

JAKARTA - Golkar Party Chairman Airlangga Hartarto said there was no scenario for his party to seize the seat of the chairman of the upcoming DPR RI. Golkar remains committed to following the existing mechanisms. "The Golkar Party has never won (the Speaker of the DPR's chair). We follow the existing mechanism, yes, and there is no scenario (to fight for the seat of the Speaker of the DPR)," said Airlangga during a press conference after a plenary meeting with the Central Leadership Council (DPP) and Golkar Party cadres at the Golkar Party DPP Office, West Jakarta, Sunday, March 10. Airlangga said the matter of determining the chairman of the DPR would be decided after members of the DPR for the 2024 – 2029 period were officially sworn in in October 2024. "The DPR issue will be decided after the DPR's inauguration on October 1," he added. On that occasion, Airlangga claimed that the Golkar Party won in 15 provinces based on the results of the temporary recapitulation of the 2024 Legislative Member Election (Pileg) by the Indonesian KPU. Therefore, he believes that the Golkar Party will get a significant seat in parliament. "I also appreciate what the Golkar Party predicts will get a significant, significant seat over 100, and from the results of the planning prepared for 2 years, thank God it gave results because the Golkar Party became the winning party in 15 provinces," he said. On the other hand, Airlangga mentioned the direction of Golkar Party voters at all levels in the 2024 General Election.

"Alhamdulillah, in this election, the Golkar party has a linear voter. The district/city, provincial and national DPRs are also linear with the president who is promoted by the Golkar Party. Therefore, this is an achievement that shows the solidity and engine strength of the Golkar Party," he said.
