ACEH BARAT - West Aceh District Attorney carried out the execution of the caning sentence for RD (26), a resident of Iku Lhung Village, Labuhan Haji District, Southwest Aceh Regency 154 lashes. The caning process is carried out in public, the Meulaboh prosecutor's office yard. "The implementation of this caning sentence is based on the Supreme Court Decision Number: 4K/AG/IN/2024 dated February 19, 2024, which has permanent legal force,” said the Head of the West Aceh District Attorney, Siswanto in Meulaboh, quoted from Antara, Thursday, March 7. Siswanto said that in the decision of the panel of judges, the defendant RD was legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing the rape as in the primary indictment of violating Article 48 Qanun (Perda) Aceh Number 6 of 2014 concerning Jinayat Law. The Supreme Court also sentenced the defendant by imposing uqubat ta’zir with uqubat caning 165 times, and setting the period of arrest and detention that the defendant had served to be reduced entirely from the uqubat dropped. Kajari Siswanto said that in this case the convict RD had been in detention for 298 days. So based on the provisions of Article 18 of Aceh Qanun Number 6 of 2014 concerning the Law of the Jinayat Event which states that for a maximum detention of 298 days, it is reduced to 11 lashes. So that uqubat caning the convict was reduced 11 times and the convict only underwent uqubat caning 154 lashes. After being sentenced to 154 lashes, the convict RD was declared free because he had served the sentence handed down by the panel of judges at the cassation level. Previously, RD was reported by HD, a 19-year-old girl, a resident of South Aceh Regency, on Friday, May 12, 2023, because the defendant was suspected of committing a crime by holding the victim's chest and genitals while riding public transportation driven by the perpetrator. The action occurred when the HD victim returned to South Aceh Regency on public transportation driven by perpetrators from Banda Aceh City.

Arriving at the Meureubo District area, West Aceh Regency, the victim saw the perpetrator committing an obscene act so that the case was reported to the West Aceh Police.
