PAPUA - Jayapura City Government (Pemkot), Papua asks its citizens to always maintain water sources by not cutting trees carelessly, especially in water catchment areas.

Acting Mayor of Jayapura Frans Pekey said that currently the water discharge in the area has decreased due to many areas that have been used as plantation land and housing for residents.

"For this reason, we ask the public not to cut down trees carelessly so that water sources do not dry because it will harm all of us," he said in Jayapura, Monday, March 4, which was confiscated by Antara.

According to Pekey, in addition, the rate of leaks and illegal water pipe connections often occurs, so his party appealed to the public to report to PT Air Drinking Jayapura to pair water pipes.

"So that it is carried out by the company according to the rules because its own installation will not be controlled so that there is a leak so that water is wasted," he said

He explained that his party also reminded all customers of PT Air Drinking Jayapura to pay water bills according to schedule and not to be in arrears.

"Because apart from us bringing the company to life, we also contribute to the Regional Original Revenue (PAD) of Jayapura City," he said again.

He added that the currently available water sources and new water sources found by PT Air Drinking Jayapura are expected to be managed optimally.

"We hope that PT Air Drinking Jayapura can also ensure that the flow of water can flow well to the community," he concluded.
