Jokowi Is Suspected Of Remaining Cawe-cawe In The DKI Regional Head Election

It is suspected that President Joko Widodo will still play a role in determining the candidate pair for Governor and Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta in the 2024 Pilkada.

Political observer from the Citra Institute, Efriza assessed, reflecting on the active role of encouraging the realization and winning the Prabowo-Gibran pair in the 2024 presidential election, Jokowi is said to be still 'cheating' even though his position as president has ended in October, or one month before the 2024 Pilkada.

"Jokowi is very likely to interfere indirectly in the 2024 DKI Jakarta Pilkada," he said, Sunday, March 3, 2024.

He suspects that Jokowi's active role is because not all of his family members have received public positions. Until now, only Gibran Rakabuming Raka has almost certainly become vice president in 2024-2029.

As for his youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep, has not yet held public office. Likewise with Jokowi's son-in-law, Bobby Nasution, who now serves as Mayor of Medan, who is likely to run in the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada.

"Jokowi certainly has a desire in the remaining term of office as president that Kaesang and Bobby can get a seat back," said Efriza.

He considered that Jokowi could encourage Kaesang to become a candidate for Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta. In fact, it is possible that Kaesang will be duetted with Ridwan Kamil as the Cagub-Cawagub pair of DKI Jakarta.

Ridwan Kamil is widely rumored to be running as Cagub DKI Jakarta. Moreover, the Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar Party has received recommendations from his party. "It could be that Ridwan Kamil's duet and with Kaesang it would happen if Jokowi preferred to win," he added.

Efriza explained that Ridwan Kamil was considered more likely to win as seen in the survey results. The results of the Indonesian Political Indicators in 2023 show that RK is one of the top of the mind as a cagub among the Capital City voters.

As many as 7.4 percent of respondents spontaneously mentioned the name RK when asked who their cagub was.
